Collect and send money in Rwanda using MTN and Airtel on the same MarzPay APIs as Uganda and Kenya. Use country: "RW", RWF amounts, and +250 phones (MTN 078/079, Airtel 072/073).

Rwanda essentials

  • Always send country: "RW" for Rwanda wallet routing
  • Use amounts in RWF and phones as +250XXXXXXXXX
  • Same endpoints: POST /collect-money and POST /send-money
  • Provider is auto-detected: mtn or airtel
  • Typical minimums start around RWF 100 (confirm your business limits)
  • Subscribe to Rwanda MTN/Airtel collection and disbursement services in the dashboard

Collect money (Rwanda)

Request payment from a customer’s MTN or Airtel wallet. The customer approves on their phone; you receive a webhook when the collection completes or fails.

  1. POST /collect-money with amount, +250 phone, country: "RW", UUID reference
  2. Transaction starts as pending / processing
  3. Customer authorises on MTN or Airtel
  4. Webhook/callback settles to completed or failed

Send money (Rwanda)

Disburse to an MTN or Airtel wallet. You receive a webhook when the payout completes or fails.

  2. Provider pays the recipient
  3. Webhook settles to completed or failed
